New test results and details about the Threadripper 7995WX and 7975WX have leaked

AMD’s next generation of professional workstation processors, Threadripper, is coming soon. Leaked test results have already shown that the Threadripper Pro 7995WX looks really great, and now more results are emerging that confirm that and also show what little brother the Threadripper Pro 7975WX is up to.

This time the results come from Sisoftware’s Sandra benchmark suite, run on a Dell Precision 7875 Tower. For the 7975WX, testing showed the following specifications: 32 cores with 64 threads, 128MB L3 cache, 32MB L2 cache, and 4.0GHz peak frequency. Wccftech He writes that it may be assumed to be the frequency with all cores running at the same time.

The upcoming top model Threadripper Pro 7995WX shows nearly 70 percent better results than the previous Threadripper Pro 5995WX. Instead, the Threadripper Pro 7975WX microprocessor positions itself a few points behind the previous top model. That’s an impressive result, considering that the newcomer has only half as many cores as the 64-core Threadripper Pro 5995WX.

In the multimedia test, the Threadripper Pro 5995WX scored 14 percent higher and in the financial test 19 percent. In the encryption test, the result was the opposite, and the Threadripper Pro 7975WX was 31 percent higher — thanks to new hardware improvements to the encryption algorithms.

Because both the previous results and these results apply to early test samples, the so-called Engineering samples, not production examples, specifications may change slightly. For example, the Threadripper Pro 7995WX shows a frequency of 5.14 GHz in the new test results, while previous results showed 5.15 GHz.
