It would be tempting to upgrade
Rather than simply indicating that there is an upgrade, users should be attracted by what it contains.
One of the problems that Google has to face is the lack of enthusiasm of users to install major upgrades and updates of the operating system. This is something they now hope to change with a feature they call Android Upgrade Invite. In practice, this is a notification with a series of screenshots showing the features of the available update, complete with a prompt to perform the update. The intent is, by showing new features among other things, to give users a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming update rather than just using the changelog.
The feature will be available to Android OEMs and requires Google Mobile Services support. However, it is said to be limited to major feature updates and new generations of Android, which may mean that mobile manufacturers may not be able to use the Android Upgrade Invite for their customized versions of Android.
Figures from June 2023 show that Android 13, which is the latest generation of Android, ranks fourth on the number of users with 14.7 percent. The most used version is Android 11 with 23.1 percent, followed by Android 10 with 22.3 percent and Android 12 with 16.3 percent.
