Whiskey with an English royal sparkle

The last Royal Salute whiskey was released when Queen Elizabeth of England was crowned 70 years ago. But now it’s time for royal glory again.

It’s not every day that England gets a new king. But now that Charles III’s coronation is in a few weeks, it must be properly celebrated.

For the occasion, England not only got a new king – it also got a new whiskey for the world to enjoy.

Pernod Ricard-owned brand Royal Salute is now releasing the King Charles III Edition Coronation, a blended scotch designed for “kings and queens and people enjoying life well-funded”.

The King Charles III Edition is a blend of 53 whiskies, made by master blender Sandy Hyslop, aged for two years in cherry casks before being bottled now.

A floating tribute

“The new whiskey has been created to both celebrate the British monarchy and highlight the unique history of the Royal Salute brand,” says Sandy Hyslop. “My aim was to create a unique flavor associated with Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953, so I used 53 different whiskeys for the new recipe. We have also tried to highlight the work whiskey has done in the last 70 years since the Royal Salute premiered”.

It says flavors of the new whiskey include currants, dark chocolate, roasted chestnuts, sweet figs and ginger. An interesting and unique combination that only a few people get to taste.

Only 500 bottles of the unique whiskey are released. A bottle costs SEK 250,000.

But you must hurry. Most are already booked.
