Microsoft Copilot: Your AI Assistant in the M365 Suite

Today is the day we take the next big step in the evolution of our computing. This is something that will radically change the way we work and contribute to increased productivity. Our users get a new leader in their work, which will give them more power and will provide new features using the most universal interface – the human language, says Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, in a blog post.

Microsoft Copilot is integrated into Microsoft 365 in every conceivable way, and is based on so-called Large Language Models (LLMs), just like Microsoft’s ChatGPT.

An AI assistant like this already exists in the Github code platform, with many users attesting to better productivity and more satisfying work, according to Microsoft.

From Word to Outlook

In the coming months, Copilot will be included in classic Office programs such as Word and Powerpoint. In Word, you’ll be able to get help with first drafts or text edits, and in Powerpoint you should be able to ask it to create different presentations.

In addition, a new service called Business Chat is being introduced that integrates and tracks emails, chats, and meetings.

For example, you should be able to ask a Business Chat bot to summarize what you and your colleagues have achieved on a particular project so far, based on all the work you’ve done in various Microsoft apps, so that you can present that to strangers.

The copilot will learn “as you do,” and, according to Microsoft, get smarter over time, trained on your data and content in order to deliver more and better personalized content.
