The DP World Tour ended in Mauritius on Sunday, where Frenchman Antoine Rosner won. The tour now has a Christmas and New Year break until mid-January when the Hero Cup in Abu Dhabi (January 13-15) takes place.
The Hero Cup is a newly established tournament that is a preparation for the Ryder Cup in September.
Great Britain/Ireland, captained by Tommy Fleetwood, face the Rest of Europe led by Francesco Molinari. Teams consist of ten players, as in the Ryder Cup, there will be four, best ball and singles play.
A month ago, Europe’s Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald announced eighteen of the twenty players available for the tournament. Alexander Noren was one of the other players in Europe at the time.
Now the last two players have been selected. It was Antoine Rosner and England’s Richard Mansell.

The squad is held together by Donald, Fleetwood and Molinari and the players included could be considered the most scrutinized when it comes to making the final Ryder Cup squad.
Europe’s four highest-ranked players – Rory McIlroy (world number one), John Rahm (5), Matt Fitzpatrick (9) and Victor Hovland (10) – were not included. That’s what they’ll do when it’s time to visit Marco Simone in Rome at the end of September.

Eligibility for the Ryder Cup runs until September 3, 2023. Six players can enter the team. Donald drew six wild cards.
The team currently consists of John Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry from the European list and Victor Hovland, Alexander Noran and Spaniard Adrian Otegui from the world list. However, Otegui is not in the Hero Cup.
