Double success for Åby Ridklubb when the ATG Riders Association starts the Jönköping Horse Show

On Thursday afternoon, the popular ATG Riders League jump series started in Elmia with qualifiers on 1.35 and 1.45 jumps. Åby Ridklubb impressed, winning both heats through Siri Swärd and Marcus Westergren.

First in the ATG Riders Leauge Qualifier was a 1.35 bed jump. Two-stage A/A: 0 total error. No fewer than 114 crews started in the class which attracted SEK 8,000 in prizes and places in Saturday’s heat. Siri Swärd with Åby Ridklubb’s Just A Dream Mi Amor came out early in the class as number 10 and set an impossible-to-beat time.

The rider has been in the lead for over 100 starts and comments on the achievement with a laugh: “It’s not usually a winning concept, but today it worked.”

Due to the large number of starters in the class (more than 100 starters), the class was divided into two parts, so the victory is also between Siri Swärd and Niklas Arvidsson along with Confidence CC (SWB) from Harplinge Ridklubb

Later in the afternoon, time for qualifying for the ATG Riders League Grand Prix, Åby Ridklubb hit again. This time through Marcus Westergren and Crunch Air, who beat world star Peder Fredriksson by only tenth, together with new horse Tiamatara. In third place was Britain’s Robert Whitaker with Fermento. All riders in the top three were within 1 second of each other.

The class went on a course of 1.45 with a two-stage rating A/A:0 total foul and Peder Fredricson finished with Tiamathara fifth out of 54 crews. On their second start together, the crew set the benchmark straight away with a double zero of 25.26 seconds on the second stage. Time that would suffice all the way to second place. Like I said, Marcus Westergren and Crunch Air were the fastest of all, taking care of the win and SEK 7,000 in prize money.

About ATG Riders Leauge
During Saturday, five races are held, two at 150 and three at 135. The best qualifiers go to Saturday evening’s semi-finals and win in the 1.35 and 1.50 classes.

Py Jägerdén and Niklas Arvidsson lead the standings heading into the fourth series semi-final out of a total of six. The Grand Final will take place during the Gothenburg Horse Show from 22-26 February 2023.
