Lee Johnson warned about snuff: ‘It controls their thoughts’

As you know, the sale of Snus is prohibited throughout the UK. However, possession and use of Snus is completely legal. Sweden is the only country in the entire European Union where the sale of snus is also allowed and it was and still is very popular among Allsvenskan footballers. Now Sunderland boss Lee Johnson is warning that snuff use among players in the Premier League is becoming a major problem.

– I see how many players are using it. Maybe about a third or even half of the players are in the locker room.

“I don’t think they are aware of how negative it is,” says Johnson, the Sunderland coach, who is currently second in the English third tier.

“Ask the doctors and nurses about snuff”

Johnson has coached former top club Sunderland since 2020. He has seen firsthand how the drizzle affects the players in a negative way.

– I’ve had players so addicted that when they’re in the hospital for something else, they ask the doctors and the nurses to give them a spray. Other than that, they say they get out of bed and fix it themselves, even if they just had knee surgery, he told Talksport.

Did you introduce Snus to some of your teammates?

Yes, there must have been someone. But when I got to Newcastle there were already a lot of people sniffing there so they knew where it was. Someone might have asked if he could test, but no more than that.

– Not sold in shops in England, they buy online. They manage it themselves. Otherwise, I would have had to bring a whole suitcase from Sweden, I feel like it, says Kravth with a laugh.
