10-year-old girl denied abortion in Ohio

10-year-old girl denied abortion in Ohio

The fate of the 10-year-old has left people shocked and disturbed across the United States. Abortion advocates say Republicans can’t save lives when they force sexually abused children to get pregnant.

“Little 10-year-old Ohio senator deserves to be fought for,” former Ohio Senator Nina Turner wrote on Twitter.

Since 1973, having an abortion has been a constitutional right in the United States. But after the Supreme Court decided on June 24, 2022, to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision, many of the country’s Republican states chose to toughen abortion laws or make abortion outright illegal.

Ohio announced just hours after HD’s decision to ban all abortions in which pregnancy exceeds 6 weeks.

Because of the new laws, the 10-year-old girl, whose 6-week pregnancy passed in her home state, was denied an abortion and was forced to travel to neighboring Indiana for the procedure.

The girl is one of many women now forced to cross state lines in order to have an abortion, the Indianapolis star reports.

But even that may soon cease to be an option. Because at the end of July, Indiana will also consider whether or not it is appropriate to tighten abortion rules.

“It’s hard to imagine that in just a few weeks we might not be able to provide that care,” a gynecologist who treated the 10-year-old in Indiana told the Indianapolis Star.
