On 4-6 July, Swedish and British air forces will train together at Skaraborg’s air flotilla (F 7) in Såtenäs. Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist visits the exercise on July 5.
With Jas 39 Gripen and Typhoon aircraft, the exercise takes place within the framework of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).
The JEF is led by the United Kingdom and includes both Sweden and Finland. In light of the countries’ applications for NATO membership, several JEF exercises are planned in Sweden and Finland during the summer and fall.
– When the defense ministers of the JEF countries met in Oslo in June, all expressed strong support for Sweden and Finland’s applications to join NATO. Other JEF countries have also pledged increased presence in the Baltic Sea region while Sweden and Finland wait to become NATO members. This training is an important part of that existence, says Peter Hultqvist.
A press conference involving the Minister of Defense will be held on July 5 in F7 at the visiting reception at 10.45.
Journalists can register by e-mail to [email protected] with their name and social security number no later than 17.00 on 4 July.
After the press conference, the Defense Minister is available for personal interviews, see press release below.
