The 21-year-old from Grycksbo in Dalarna got the best possible start to his new British team — Hitachi KTM powered by Milwaukee — when he struck with a freestyle win in the type rope on Sunday at the Hawkstone Park classic. Several top drivers have been included, including France’s Tom Vial who won the World Cup in 2020.
“It was important to get a good message and I felt good all winter,” continues Isaac who didn’t make it to last season at all when he became a factory driver in a gas stable.
Expectations were high but injuries, a coup and a good portion of bad luck meant a thirteenth place overall. Third place was the best. Gifting has now been moved from Germany to Lommel, Belgium, a real city for the best cross-country skiers in the world.
Training added
– It works well in the new environment. I’ve ridden more motorcycles than before and changed my training. Now I’m also the first top driver on the team, which feels very good. It is a sharp private team that works hard to develop motorcycles.
Last season, Isaacs had major problems quickly qualifying for the playoffs. This often resulted in a bad starting position. This year, it will be the qualifying competition that decides something Isaacs will welcome.
– Since I’m much better at racing, it gives me more chances of success. Simply good news.
I really like Isaac’s attitude, he’s excited about it and with the victory this weekend he showed that we’re on the right track. Hopefully he’s in the top six, fighting for podiums and maybe even a win, says stable manager Brian Connolly for SVT Sport.
Gifting is looking forward to a ‘normal’ season after the pandemic and is looking forward to a World Cup tournament on Swedish soil. Uddevalla will once again host the Grand Prix from August 6-7.
– It would be great to be able to drive in front of the home crowd again.
Tim Edberg and Filip Olsson will also drive in the MX2 WC. Alvin Ostlund is the Swedish jumper in MX1, he’s back after a tough head injury.
