Bioware has had a fairly difficult two years. Their latest games, Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda, have come under fire and a group of top developers have decided to leave the traditional game studio. Now another high-profile has decided to leave Bioware and this time it’s Matt Goldman, Senior Creative Director of the Dragon Age series. A statement from Bioware CEO Gary McKay, among others, said:
I hope you are well. I am writing to inform you all that Matt Goldman is leaving BioWare. We have mutually agreed to part, and his last day is today.
We understand that Matt’s departure has an impact on you, as well as on the development of the game. Rest assured that our commitment to a quality Dragon Age game has not been compromised, and we will not ship a game that does not live up to BioWare standards.
Goldman started at Bioware in 1998 and has worked on titles such as Baldur’s Gate, Jade Empire, and the first Dragon Age game. However, he quickly left Bioware to work on Ensemble with Halo Wars, but returned to Bioware 2017 where he took on the role of Creative Director for Dragon Age 4.
All of this takes place in the middle of the Dragon Age 4 development, which seems to be so. We hope that the game is in good hands and will provide a real adventure.
