Windows 11 SE will not be available for purchase on older PCs. It will also not be possible to reinstall if you remove it

The other day, Microsoft introduced its latest operating system, Windows 11 SE, an operating system designed primarily for use on budget computers, for example, schools.

According to the documentation Microsoft released regarding the new operating system, this will only be available on new PCs where they are pre-installed. In other words, it will not be possible, for example, for a computer administrator at a school to purchase a set of Windows 11 SE licenses and install them on the school’s computers.

Furthermore, Microsoft states that users who choose to uninstall Windows 11 SE from their laptop and then install another operating system will not be able to reinstall Windows 11 SE once it has been removed from the computer.

Windows 11 SE will be preinstalled on various laptops including Acer, Asus, Dell, Dynabook, Fujitsu, HP, JK-IP, Lenovo and Positivo. Microsoft will also release the budget laptop Surface Laptop SE, which will come pre-installed with Windows 11 SE. It will be released in select markets early next year and will cost $250.

Below is a slightly longer feature from Microsoft Education where they tell more about Windows 11 SE and Surface Laptop SE.
