At least during Early Access.
Subnautica-creators Unknown Worlds recently released a turn-based strategy game Moonbreaker in early access. It’s gotten some attention because it’s written by Brandon Sanderson Create the world In the game, and because you are playing with miniature figures taken from a board game, players can also flex their creative muscles by drawing them as they want.
But another thing that was also noted about the game is its use of loot boxes and a shop where you can buy things for real money, despite the fact that it is not a free game. The criticism did not last long, and fortunately fell on deaf ears.
In a post on the official website, they wrote that the game’s “boost boxes” will be removed completely and that new units will be automatically unlocked in the base game instead. Pulsars premium coin will also be removed and anyone who bought it will be refunded.
More specifically, they write that “it will not be purchasable or redeemable for in-game items during early access,” so there may be plans to introduce it when the game is released.
