The hashtag #highprotein was viewed on Tiktok 67 million times in Sweden last year and five billion times worldwide.

Last week alone, the same hashtag received three million views in Sweden, which ranks third on the list of countries where #highprotein received the most views. It is most popular in Australia, followed by Finland.

But how important is it? In reality To get as much protein as possible at each meal?

For general health and survival, we see that 95% of the population gets about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. But if your goal is to improve muscle growth or maintain significant muscle mass, there are advantages to sleeping a little longer, says Malin Bjorklund, a registered dietitian.

A person weighing 80 kilograms will need to eat about 64 grams of protein per day.

– So the vast majority of people do not need to focus on increasing their daily protein intake, says Malin Bjorklund.

Without even trying, get 1.1-1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, says Bjorklund, who says protein deficiency in Sweden is extremely rare unless you have some sort of eating disorder.
