In August, Lucid introduced the worst version of the Air – the Air Sapphire. At the time, we didn’t get exact speed specs, but we do now. The car contains three electric motors that together generate more than 1,200 horsepower. This is enough to enable you to do 0-96 km/h in 1.89 seconds. This makes it 0.01 seconds faster than its biggest competitor – the Tesla Model S Plaid. Well, then, but still faster. It should go from 0 to 160 km/h in 3.87 seconds and top speed is only reached when the meter reads 330 km/h. It is also eight kilometers per hour faster than the Plaid’s top speed. They don’t say what the Sapphire does in the quarter mile, they just say the time is under nine seconds anyway. The car also differs from other Air versions by its ceramic brakes, stiffer springs all around, different damper settings, sharper bushings, and different configurations when it comes to ABS, stability control, and power steering.
The Air Sapphire costs from $249,000 and will launch next year.
