The gold rush for the Swedish side came in the second leg for which Martin Regborn was in charge. It turned five seconds back against Switzerland and then it turned into a Sarah Hagstrom finish by 33 seconds, then against Finland.
Wasela Hagstrom’s lead during the final stage. She took the gold medal in style, 48 seconds ahead of Switzerland. Bronze went to Finland.

Anger during the gold rush: “Damn, I’m sorry”
But the feeling was not good throughout the entire relay, even though Sweden was ahead in all the changes. Tove Alexandersson was partly dissatisfied, as she was stopped at a point where she did not understand the map. Even Jonathan Gustafsson, the player of the second leg, was unhappy when he changed gears.
– Damn, I’m sorry. I had a job, not to fail, so I did it in several places. It’s very bad, he told SVT Sport, before being told he only lost a few seconds to rivals.
– Then he says he feels a little better.
The gold medal is Sweden’s second during the European Championships, after Hagstrom in the sprint race on Tuesday. In the mixed relay, this is Sweden’s first ever gold medal.
