British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called for elections on July 4.
The announcement comes after the government said inflation is back under control and the economy is improving.
Sunak says the election will be about who can provide the best future for the people. He himself is satisfied with what his government has achieved.
– In the coming weeks I will fight for every vote, earn your trust and prove that only a conservative government led by me will not endanger our economic stability, he says.

Meanwhile, Sunak says voters don't know what a government led by Labor leader Keir Starmer is getting – according to Sunak, he will only take the “easy way out”.

Starmer: Time for a change
Keir Starmer says it's “time for a change”.
– Britain is a great and proud country, but after 14 years of being led by the Tories, nothing seems to work, Starmer says in a video on X, saying his own party is undergoing a change.
He says he wants to “stop messing around, turn the page and start rebuilding.”
Sunak's Conservative Party has been in power since 2010 – but opinion polls show the party lagging far behind the opposition Labor Party.
Weak public opinion figures
A recent poll by Yougov polling shows support for the Tories at 20 per cent, while Labor gathers 47 per cent. An average of major polls gives Labor a 23 percentage point lead, a compilation of The Economist shows.
According to AFP, the Conservative Party has not been able to outscore Labor in elections since 2021.
Rishi Sunak is the country's third conservative prime minister since the last 2019 election.
The next election could be held in January 2025 at the latest.
