Sturgill Simpson Next year will make their long-awaited live comeback in the UK and Europe under their new name Johnny Blue Skies. Simpson's first tour since 2020 includes London's Eventim Apollo on March 1, before heading to Europe for an 11-date tour that concludes at the Trianon in Paris on March 22. Following the announcement of the tour Passage to DesireIt was released in July this year and received critical acclaim. The record was released on Simpson's own independent record label High Top Mountain Records And on Because of the music In France, it consists of eight songs produced by Johnny Blue Skies and David Ferguson and recorded at Clement House Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee and Abbey Road Studios in London, England.
Since its release Passage to Desire Simpson and his band – Kevin Black (bass), Robbie Crowell (keyboards), Lor Jomets (guitar) and Miles Miller (drums) – have been touring the US, including headlining shows at Outside Lands and the Austin City Limits music festival.
Since his debut, Simpson has released six studio albums – high mountain (2013), Metamodern sounds in folk music (2014), A Sailor's Guide to Earth (2016), Sound & Fury (2019), Ballad of Toot and Juanita (2021) and this year Passage to Desire – as well as 2020 plans Kattin Bull Vol. 1 And Vol. 2. Throughout her personal career, Simpson has consistently exceeded expectations, earning widespread recognition and countless accolades, including a 2017 Grammy Award for Best Country Album and six Grammy nominations in four different categories: Country, Rock, Bluegrass, and Americana.
In addition to his work as a musician, Simpson has acted, including roles in film and television The dead never die, Queen & Slim, Killers of the Flower Moon And Righteous Gems.
