Statecraft increases its presence in the UK with the acquisition of wind farms

Norska Statecraft is working on a number of acquisitions in Scotland, where it will set up an office later in the year.

Norske Statkraft has embarked on an acquisition spree in the Scottish Shetland Islands, where the company bought two future wind farms.

This concerns the Beaw Field and Mossy Hill wind farms, which will have a capacity of 72 and 48 MW respectively, writes MediaRenews.

A proud history

– I am very pleased that we have completed the purchase of these two plants in the Shetland Islands, which will eventually be able to produce enough power to power 90,000 homes. The Shetland Islands have a proud history of being at the forefront of green energy innovation and I am delighted that Statkraft is helping to continue this, says Richard Morton, Statkraft UK development manager.

The two parks, comprising a total of 29 wind turbines, are the only ones in Scotland controlled by Statecraft. The energy company is awaiting approval from the Scottish Government to acquire another 126MW wind farm in the Yell area.

A greater commitment to the area is also reflected in Statecraft’s desire to establish an office in Shetland.
