The dangers and dangers of cycling in a dense group, at 50 kilometers per hour, came to light during charity cycling at night when Italian Elisa Balsamo fell and made real havoc.
With two laps left of the women’s omnium – the Olympic group cycling branch, the pace of the race increased and over the next final lap, on the first turn, two cyclists fell. After only half a lap came an even worse crash.
Up to seven skaters, including reigning Olympic champion Laura Kenny of Great Britain, were affected after Italy’s Elisa Balsamo got a throw on the bike and Ireland’s Emily Kay hit.

9 out of the 21 cyclists did not finish, and Poland’s Daria Pikulik also had to abstain from continuing to compete.
Laura Kenny, who drove to defend the 2016 Rio Olympics gold, survived the crash, but after collecting only 16 points, it became too much of a gap to catch USA Jennifer Valente.
American Valenti won the race and later the gold medal in the combined event.
– Olympic gold? It’s hard to believe. “I haven’t been able to participate in it yet,” she said after the competition, according to Reuters.
