Property portal OnTheMarket plc says that traffic to its website in May 2019 reached 25.4m visits, a new monthly record.
This is more than an 8%
increase on January’s seasonal high and previous record month of 23.5m visits,
plus a 15% increase in agent leads. The company adds that as at 3 June 2019 it
displayed over 650,000 UK
residential property listings which it says is over 83% of rival Zoopla and
approximately 65% of Rightmove.
Ian Springett, Chief
Executive Officer of OnTheMarket.com, said: “Our May performance is further
evidence that our growth strategy is working. We have delivered another set of
record-breaking traffic and leads results for our estate and letting agent
customers, many of whom are choosing to list their properties on a ‘new &
exclusive’ basis. This is driving traffic to our portal while injecting
competition into a market which was previously a ‘duopoly’.”
While website traffic doesn’t necessarily equate to sales of course it is, nevertheless, a good start towards making them. However, not many conventional businesses would necessarily think it wise to produce statistics showing that they are third best. Then again the property portal business is no conventional business.
