Miniature data center heats public pool. Smart solution.

Miniature data center heats public pool. Smart solution.

A UK bath house has teamed up with Deep Green to develop a device that allows a small “data center” the size of a washing machine to heat a public pool. The servers are wrapped around oil, which transfers heat to the water in the pool. It should be enough to heat the pool up to 30 degrees to 60 percent. However, the size of the pool is not known in the BBC article, but it should save Exmouth Leisure Center thousands of pounds. The server is used for machine learning and should be donated to the bath house.

Mark Bjornsgaard, founder of Deep Green, says the company will also reimburse the bathhouse’s electricity costs to run the system and that seven other pools in the UK have joined the scheme.
