Pennsylvania trio Meek Mill, Michael Rubin and Kevin Hart have teamed up again for a charity event for Philadelphia, according to a press release. Last year, the trio donated $15 million to more than 100 schools in the Philadelphia area. Now join again and they’ll donate another seven million dollars. This time the donation will be distributed to 60 different needy schools in the area and both scholarships and computers will be funded for low-income students.
In a Twitter thread, Meek comments on the incident by making connections to his own schools.
The whole trap should go off too…we came from the public schools side!!!!! https://t.co/DJRjjTo7pS

In another tweet, he expresses his frustration at how what he vaguely calls “blogs” only capture negative events – which may be a reference to various recent events in Ghana.
You see blogs didn’t pick up on this – they just highlighted anything negative about their people, and it became readable! https://t.co/DJRjjToFfq

Meek, who recently discovered he is of Ghanaian descent, was visiting Accra to play at the Afronation Festival. Related to that, take the opportunity to shoot Music video in the Republican Palace, also called the “Jubilee House”. In the video, Mick appears with his friends in the various corridors of the palace, as well as behind the presidential podium. The whole thing caused so much discontent in the country that the video was filmed without permission. Yesterday he apologized via Twitter, writing:
“For the people of Ghana, no video I drop would mean disrespect to the people of Ghana at all. The quickest way to make a connection is through music.” [sic] And I wanted to do that by showing art. I’m in my 30s from America and didn’t know much about the lifestyle.”
For the people of Ghana there is no video I drop that is meant to be disrespectful to the people of Ghana….the quickest way to communicate is through music and I wanted to do that through showcasing art…I’m 30 from America and didn’t know much about the style of life here

continued:
My apologies to people that I found disrespectful! We are still pushing for connection between black people in America and Africa… What I’m trying to do is more than just a video and you should see it soon! My apologies to the office too!

The video has now been removed from his social media but can be seen via the tweet below.
