No prime minister in British history has had a shorter time

A new prime minister will be elected within a week and in the meantime Truss will remain in office. Conservative MPs rallied all day calling for Truss to resign.
Truss took office as the new Prime Minister of Great Britain on 6 September. Thus she sat for 45 days, and thus became the person who held the office of Prime Minister for the shortest term in Great Britain.
