Jess fans’ response: Now we stop the Bengals | Sport GT

After a massive Bengal burnout in their home opener against Sundsvall, the Jays received criticism from the police who believed the club could aggressively distance itself from illegal leagues.

Gais now respond with a security policy developed by the Gårdakvarnen fan club together with Gais Tifo.

“bending our backs”

The club’s press release states that the policy was developed in collaboration with the club’s supporters’ association, Gårdakvarnen. But the supporters’ association wrote in an official statement on its website that it had only agreed to the demands reluctantly.

Gardakvarnen writes: “We’re bending our backs now. We’re bending our backs and betraying our ideals.” The reason why Gårdakvarnen wrote the policy was because they were threatened with being kicked out of the heel by Gamla Ullevi AB (GUAB) if certain actions were not taken.

– We still stick to the fact that we want to surf under safe conditions. But we will stick to the new policy, Otterloo says.

Not all members of Gårdakvarnen have seen the policy yet.

Most people will understand that we do what is necessary. But at the same time they will feel that we make room for people who don’t want the best in football.

– We’re only doing this because GUAB requires it, says Otterloo, who believes it should not be understood as a reaction to police saying Gais as a club could distance itself more forcefully from the Bengals.

“an important question”

After GUAB’s request, representatives from Gais sat down with several supporters and asked what they could consider doing to improve the security situation. After the meeting, the policy was drawn up.

– Chairman Thomas Anderson says the use of legal fireworks is an important issue that Gais is pursuing.

– Joel Otterlo confirms, The Gais are incredibly clear that they don’t think it’s okay to burn flares, but he also says that many supporters view flares as a mood booster and an important symbolic issue for fans.

– I think this document is positive for us because it shows that we are jointly trying to take responsibility for the work. It is a stand against burning Bengal. But we work for the legal and safe use of fireworks. It is a long process by which public opinion is affected, says Thomas Anderson.
