IFixit Repair Service has broken down Apple’s latest version of Apple TV 4K, and like its predecessor, it’s fairly easy to fix.
The new Apple TV 4K has the same design and can unlock in the same way as the version released in 2017. The biggest difference in terms of components is that the new version is equipped with the Apple A12 Bionic chip, the same chip found in the iPhone XR and iPhone XS.
However, the new version of the Siri Remote wasn’t as easy to open as the TV box itself. IFixit was required to remove some of the remote control buttons to access some of the screws holding the chassis together. Then he was able to open and access the components inside the remote control. The remote control battery is attached to the chassis but can be removed relatively easily after opening the case.
IFixit gives the new Apple TV 4K a score of 8 on the 10-point repair scale, the same as its predecessor. Siri Remote is not rated by iFixit. The wish regarding iFixit’s Siri Remote is that future versions of this will have a design that will facilitate replacement of the remote control’s rechargeable battery.
