No, it wasn't exciting when Sweden went up against Great Britain in the Olympic qualifiers. Already at the break, the one in yellow was leading with 21 goals (27-6). By then, Nathalie Huckman already had eleven hits.
However, in others, she and the other two stars had to rest. But that didn't stop Sweden's target production. Instead, they continued to pour on, scoring 25 goals to two in the second half. This made the final score 52-8.
Axnér: “It's nice not to go to a monastery”
Confederations captain Tomas Agner was right when he said before the match that he could go home from Hungary or become a hermit if Sweden lost a qualifier against Great Britain, which would not have actually qualified.
– It's great that I don't have to go home or go to the monastery. Agner says it wouldn't have been much fun and continues:
– I don't want to stand here and shout. I think Great Britain will come here and do their best and it might be a good experience to come here and face this kind of opposition. You cannot complain that they have just started playing volleyball.
Hawkman: “Ends in a Good Way”
Worst handball nation you faced as captain of the national team?
– Yes, but I think… we had a game against Kazakhstan, but actually I think they (Great Britain) have a bit more left in those teams.
This defeat has earned Sweden a place in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
– It feels wonderful. The goal of the weekend was to get to the Olympics. We probably knew it before this match, but we finish in a good way, Hagman tells SVT Sport.
