GTA boosts Netflix's gaming project

Netflix launched its gaming project in 2021, and since then it has slowly and steadily expanded the number of games. In mid-December, the company unexpectedly added the three classic GTA games Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, and it seems like it was a smart move.

Data from Appmagic which Mobilegamer.biz Specifically, research showed that the number of Netflix game downloads on Android and iOS rose from 10 million in November to 28 million in December. San Andreas, the newest of the three games, was the most popular with 11.6 million downloads. It was followed by Vice City with 4.1 and GTA 3 with 2.4 million downloads. Thus the triple games accounted for more than the entire surge.

A year after its launch, in August 2022, Netflix reported that about one percent of all subscribers had downloaded games from the service. At the time the company had about 220 million subscribers, today the number is about 275 million, but with 28 million downloads, the percentage of those who tried at least one game should have been high.

Netflix's game catalog consists of about 80 titles, most of which are simpler mobile games, but the company has started its own game studio that will produce a lavish third-person action role-playing game. The studio is headed by Chacko Sonny, who was previously the executive producer of Overwatch.
