Thanks to a 3-2 victory over Sävstaås last Friday, Villa Lidkoping is set for SC’s fourth final in Bandy. One of the supporters there was 26-year-old Elin Unger.
– There was a lot of nerves in the stands, both for me and for others in the audience. But after they managed to save that corner in extra time, I felt a bit calm, but we almost bit our tongues, she says.
On weekdays, Elin Unger drives a bus for the company that drives the Villa A team to and from matches. Since the team was finalized, there has been intense pressure on alarms.
– I’m going to drive one of the buses to Stockholm and as it looks now, there will be about 30-40 buses. But there may be more, because the interest that was here this weekend is enormous. My boss got 44 missed calls in 45 minutes from people wanting to book bus tickets. Everything revolves around Bandy now, she says.
“No small desire for gold.”
Ever since she began running the scoreboard at Villa home games during high school, Elin Unger has followed the team. And since then you’ve been waiting for gold – just like the rest of the city.
– There is no small desire for gold in Lidköping, it is something everyone has been waiting for. Most people probably feel that this year is our turn. It is a big deal in the city that Villa have reached the final again. Unger says there will be a huge heel on the north side of Stockholm, I think it will be very strong.
If Fila returns for the final, it would mean his first-ever SM gold. Three times before, Lidkobings had been to Stockholm for the final – but all times Villa had lost. This time, Ellen Anger thinks it will be different:
– I think they can handle it. Villa have been very strong all season. Both of the other teams, Sandviken and Västerås, were a bit wonky during the season, just as Villa had been in previous years. But this year, I think Villa has stabilized both offensively and defensively, as you say.
