The company, which operates railroads between Eurostar, the UK and Continental Europe, is now beginning to test a system that can identify themselves by their passenger face recognition.
This system is called “SmartCheck” and will be offered to some travelers traveling to Europe from London with Eurostar. In a press release, Eurostar writes about the system:
“SmartCheck enables travelers to complete a secure ticket verification and UK exit check on their mobile devices before departure. As part of the test, Business Premier and Carde Blanche ticket holders will be able to verify their identity documents using their iPhones before entering the station to verify that they are the real owner of the identity document. Completion of a brief biometric face scan. Biometric face verification using iProov’s true presence verification technology, then linked to their e-ticket and sent to confirmation passengers. “
