No red carpet, less glitter and sequins but more pajamas and pictures from the star’s house. This year’s Emmy Gala will be different, organizers announced in a letter read by Variety.
The entire ceremony will be digital and candidates can quietly wait for their classes in front of the computer in their homes.
“At times like these, we take the opportunity to create a more relaxed, more enjoyable, more enjoyable environment, not just for you but for all the millions watching,” the organizers wrote in an email to the nominees.
Jimmy Kimmel will continue to lead the party on September 20, but exactly where and how hasn’t been named. Many stars can expect to be visited by the camera team, and most of them are expected to follow through Zoom or other video services so all viewers can see
But there are no mandatory dress codes.
“Our casual theme for the evening is ‘Come as you are, but make an effort.’ If you want to dress formally that would be great, but if you’re in the UK and it’s 3pm you might want to wear tailored pajamas to your bed,” he wrote organizers.
Nominations for this year’s ceremony were submitted on Tuesday. The HBO series “Watchmen” received the most nominations, 26 pieces.
