Eden's first loss at the Olympics

Eden’s first loss at the Olympics

Sweden’s favorite Eden reached the group final against Great Britain with empty victories in defence. With seven wins in a row, Sweden’s already ready semi-finalists had only two wins from going to a clean house in the main round.

But it started poorly against Britain. Already after two rounds, Eden’s team was at a disadvantage with a score of 0-3 – a defect that became difficult to catch. It will be very difficult.

Too many minor mistakes in the first rounds, so they’re 3-0 up there. Then they are good at defending, Swede Oscar Eriksson tells TT.

Sweden was back, but the Brits looked set for a clear victory after going 7-3 in the eighth round. But Niklas Eden made sure to reduce Sweden to 5-7 before the 10th and final round.

But the Brits kept their nerves in check and held their lead and eventually won 7-6.

The primary series goal was to secure a semi-final spot, then curling well when we got there. “We did a really good job of putting him in, get a lot of wins and finish the game well against Switzerland the day after tomorrow,” says Ericsson.

Sweden now only has one match left before waiting for the semi-final, against Switzerland on Thursday.
