Tesla has taken an interesting trick to attract more people to buy a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y in the UK. Anyone who trades in an old diesel or gasoline car while buying a new car from Tesla can get a substantial discount.
– In support of our work to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy, Tesla is taking petrol and diesel cars off UK roads as part of our trade-in process, Tesla writes about the project.
Anyone who trades in an old car worth less than SEK 27,000 in June can get an additional SEK 27,000 off. That means buyers of a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y can get up to SEK 54,000 off their new car.
The condition is that the trade-in value is confirmed by Tesla in June, and the buyer has owned the car for at least three months. As Tesla says, the scrapping of an old car is done by a stable partner.
In Great Britain, electric cars’ share of all newly registered electric cars is around 15 per cent this year, compared to our Swedish share of 40 per cent, for example. The Swedish top 10 list consists mainly of electric cars, while the UK has only one electric car in the top 10. It ranks seventh with the Tesla Model Y.
The UK’s top 10 list is as follows:
Car model | Size January-May 2023 |
---|---|
Ford Puma | 17,312 |
Opel Corsa | 17,062 |
Nissan Qashqai | 16,751 |
Nissan Juke | 15,124 |
Hyundai Tucson | 15,090 |
Kia Sportage | 14,976 |
Tesla Model Y | 14,012 |
Ford Fiesta | 12,714 |
Mini Cooper | 12,670 |
Volkswagen T-Roc | 12,053 |
