The trilogy consists of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which were big games during the golden age of the popular PlayStation 2. The new release means the titles are entering modern platforms and that’s already towards the end of October.
Specifically, Sony’s Playstation 4 and Playstation 5, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S and the Xbox One family, but also the Nintendo Switch and PC/Windows launch through the Rockstar Launcher. Sometime next year, the games will also arrive on iOS and Android devices. Rockstar promises that the games will have improved graphics and updated game mechanics, but the “classic look and feel” will remain. With the lack of photos, videos, and detailed descriptions, it remains to be seen exactly what will change.
However, the company announces that before the launch they chose to remove the classic versions that are currently available via Steam for example. Titles will begin disappearing from digital shelves from October 11, but players who already own them will be able to download them in the future.
