Broncolor Satos – a new generation of studio flashes for the professional photographer

Broncolor releases two new flash units and new flash heads.

Satos is the new series of studio lights from Swiss Broncolor. Satos comes in two versions. The Broncolor Satos 1600 has a declared power of 1600 watts, and its older brother is 3200 watts.

The LCD screen has a high contrast, multi-touch screen and has a special protective glass. It should be resistant to scratches, cracks, and breakage. The units have a combination of a multi-touch screen with physical buttons. Tactile feedback of buttons and spin/thrust controls should enable the generator to be controlled with gloves at low temperatures.

The three lamp sockets can be controlled symmetrically or individually. Each lamp channel can be individually tuned for brightness, color temperature, and LED lighting character with green-magenta correction and High Speed Sync (HSS).
Functions such as alternate, delay and sequence are adjustable in each lamp channel.

The flashes have dual power management; They can be powered by an external power source or by a battery installed as plug-in units. According to the manufacturer, it is a good idea to supply the Satos with at least one battery even when using the mains. It compensates for fluctuations in the network, and with batteries the charging time is shortened. Both versions charge in 2.4 seconds at maximum power, with the batteries expiry time being 1.92 seconds. Each battery provides power for approximately 120 flashes at 3200W or 240 flashes at 1600W.

Satos two photocells. at the top of the screen and on the side panel. Weight is 11.4 kilos and 16.6 kilos, respectively.
