Boris Johnson Returns Furniture – Replaces Ministers

“The government I appointed today will work tirelessly to unite and develop the country,” Boris Johnson wrote on Twitter after news spread throughout Wednesday of ministers in new positions in the British government.

According to Johnson, the main task of the new government will be to tackle the unequal conditions and rebuild the country after the pandemic, according to Reuters.

It began Wednesday morning when Education Secretary Gavin Williamson announced he was leaving his post: “I look forward to continuing to support the Prime Minister and the government,” he wrote on Twitter.

Williamson has been criticized for his handling of other matters, including school closures and exams during the pandemic.

Raab is the new Minister of Justice

Attorney General Robert Buckland also tweeted, “I’m so proud of everything I’ve accomplished. Moving on to the next adventure.”

The last to change jobs is current Secretary of State Dominic Raab. Instead, he will be the new Minister of Justice and Deputy Prime Minister.

There has been speculation that Johnson wanted to remove Raab from the post of foreign secretary due to the chaos surrounding the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Raab was vacationing in Greece during the latest Taliban attack, while the government in London is fighting to evacuate British and local staff.

“If I saw in the rearview mirror, of course I wouldn’t have gone on vacation if I had known what was going to happen,” he later said, according to the Business Insider news site.

The new foreign secretary will be former Trade Secretary Liz Truss, who showed her feet when she signed a series of agreements following Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.

The new Trade Secretary will be former Climate Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan.

Fulfilling election promises

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick was one of those who had to quit his job.

Instead, the current Deputy Prime Minister Michael Gove will be the new Housing Secretary.

The Finance Minister, Rishi Sunak, is one of those who has been allowed to keep his job.

A Johnson employee told Reuters during the day that with the new government, Johnson wants to create a “strong, united team” that can deliver on election promises for 2019.
