Google’s new Plus certification for Chromebook laptops should ensure high performance and smarter functionality. The company writes this in a blog post today, where the investment is presented in more detail. Initially, Acer, Asus, HP, and Lenovo are on board the train, with the first Plus models of Chromebooks scheduled to hit stores in October.
Chromebooks in the Plus category are guaranteed a certain minimum performance. Specifications read:
CPU: Intel Core i3 12th generation and above, or AMD Ryzen 3 7000 series and above
framework: At least 8 GB
storage: At least 128 GB
webcam: At least 1080p resolution with temporary noise reduction
a screen: Full HD IPS or better
Many more AI-powered apps and software from Google are also promised. Among other things, the company is bringing its magic eraser to the Photos app, which also supports other improvements. A new file sync app works with Google Drive so you can access your files wherever you are. Computers also have access to selected external software for editing, for example, photos and videos. More news will be presented in the near future.
Acer
Acer has already sent out a press release about two current models in Sweden. The Intel-powered Acer Chromebook Plus 515 will now be released in October for SEK 6,790, while the AMD Ryzen-powered Chromebook Plus 514 will be released sometime in the last quarter of the year. The PCs naturally meet the minimum requirements for Plus certification, but can also be configured in more powerful variants.
