Apple introduces self-service repair in Europe

Until now, ordinary consumers had to go to an authorized Apple repair shop if their expensive iPhone’s camera or screen broke.

But last year, Apple announced that starting in early 2022, it would allow all customers repairing an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13. Apple, as well as access to original tools and instructions.

Initially, the new self-service repair program was only open to US users, but now self-service repair is available in eight European countries, including Sweden.

Repair manuals and original Apple parts and tools can be ordered through Apple’s self-service repair shop. Customers looking to do their own repairs can perform many of the common repairs for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models and Mac laptops with Apple chips.

The self-service repair shop offers access to more than 200 unique parts and tools and repair instructions.

Apple offers tool kit rentals for $699, so customers who don’t want to buy tools for a single repair still have access to these professional repair tools. These kits, which can be rented for a week, are shipped free to customers.
