Deadline reports that Anthony Mackie will be starring in Sony’s upcoming TV series based on the game series Twisted Metal.
According to Deadline, Anthony will play a character named John Doe who is a milkman who delivers milk in a post-apocalyptic world where cars compete in a Twisted Metal Championship where you can wish anything if you win.
Twisted Metal is a high-octane action comedy, based on the original Deadpool Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick book shot about an outsider with a moving mouth who offers a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package via a post-apocalyptic wilderness. With the help of a car thief, he’ll face brutal thieves driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers on the open road, including a deranged clown driving an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.
The first Twisted Metal game was released in 1995 and it was a game where you drive cars that would shoot each other. Easily, in my opinion, the first two games in the series, some of the best ever, and probably the only two games I can in good conscience say I’m really good at. However, subsequent games, with the exception of Twisted Medal: Black, have gone down hill.
Other game series that Sony is working on and envisioning are The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Ghost of Tsushima.
