In a way, the circle is now closed. Thirteen years ago, Tesla began producing the electric car Tesla Roadster, which was based on the chassis of the Lotus Ellis. It’s time to invest more in lotus electric cars.
Today, we learn about four new electric cars from the British carmaker Lotus, of which Jelly is now the largest. The first electric car will arrive before 2022. Production will take place at a new factory in Wuhan, China. Submitted by the factory before the end of this year.
The quartet’s first electric car is a mid – size SUV that will challenge the Tesla Model X and Audi e – tron. Next year follows a mid-size four-door coupe that will challenge premium cars in the sedan class.
A little further on, in 2025, an SUV model will be smaller than the original, which will almost resemble a Tesla model Y-sized electric car. The fourth car in the investment is the electric sports car coming in 2026.
Electric cars will be developed on a new site called Lotus Premium. They use batteries ranging from 92 to 120 kWh and have an architecture with a capacity of 800 volts more. The platform can deliver real power and for more sporty models it should go within 0-100 km / h in three seconds.

Together, the team in China and the UK will strengthen our journey towards an expanded, intelligent and electric future, fulfilling the ambitions and expectations that the Lotus brand has stood for for 73 years, Feng concludes.
