Flames high in the woods on Mount Parnithas, north of the Greek capital Athens. Now the smoke from the fire has found its way into the city and has urged people to close windows and stay indoors.

More than 500 firefighters are now working to put out the flames on Mount Parnithas, just outside Athens, before reaching the city’s most densely populated areas. So we urge all residents to close windows and stay indoors.

But the fires in Parnithas are not the only fires Greece is working to put out. 300 km south of the capital, several fires are raging and temperatures approach 40 degrees Celsius.
Roads connecting the northern and southern parts of Athens were closed and entire villages evacuated. Homes destroyed in fires in the capital’s suburb of Faribubi, according to reports Aftonbladet.
