Ten years ago, the Arab Spring began in Tunisia. Since then, the country has been viewed by the outside world as a democratic success story.

Tunisia is now shaken again by the political crisis. President Kais Saied ousted Prime Minister Hisham al-Mashishi and suspended parliament for 30 days. Kais Saied’s political opponents describe the whole thing as a coup. He himself claims that everything is in order.

What led to what is happening now? Did a coup happen or not? And where should the democratic development in Tunisia go?

This – and much more – we talk about in today’s episode of Aftonbladet Daily.

Guest: Fanny Hargistam, Swedish Radio journalist who has covered Tunisia for many years.

Host: Ginklo Leaf.
