The United Kingdom has reached its first milestone and is informed today that 15 million people have now been vaccinated against the Coronavirus.
This means that 22 per cent of all Britons have received their first injection of the Covid-19 virus. The British government says it has reached the goal of getting at least one injection of the most vulnerable in society before February 15th.
Most of those vaccinated are part of the government’s four priority groups: the elderly, healthcare workers at particular risk, nursing home employees and those living in nursing homes.
The next goal is that five priority groups, including people over 50, should have received the vaccine before the end of April.
According to the UK health authorities, 99% of Covid-19 deaths so far are attributed to the UK’s nine highest priority vaccination groups.
Today we have reached a milestone in the vaccination program in the United Kingdom. Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote on Twitter that it is an incredible feat of administering 15 million doses of the country’s most vulnerable people.
In December, the United Kingdom became the first country in the world to approve a vaccine against COVID-19.
Other countries have also been fast with vaccinations
In Israel, 71% of the population was vaccinated with the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine.
In the Seychelles it is 53% and in the United Arab Emirates 50%, says Oxford University. In the United States, the number is said to be 15 percent.
