The princes in an interview with Oprah Winfrey – Harry and Meghan accuse the British royal family of racism | Foreigner

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave a candid interview to Oprah Winfrey on CBS, accusing the British royal family of racism and not protecting Meghan or helping her. Markle must have been so unhappy that she had suicidal thoughts.

The CBS interview aired the night before Monday, Finland time, is likely to spark a strong reaction in the UK, as the interview topped news sites for several days before broadcasting. In the UK, it will be broadcast tonight, 10 pm Finland time.

The interview was recorded in California, where the couple moved in 2020 after leaving their positions in the British royal family.

Meghan Markle, as well as Prince Harry, accuse people in the British royal house of racism, but without naming any names.

According to them, there were people within the royal family who expressed concern about the complexion of son Archie before his birth. They don’t want to say who discussed it with Prince Harry.

– During the months that I was pregnant, there were discussions that he (Archie’s son) would not get any guarantee or any title. Fears were also expressed and discussed how dark his skin color would be when he was born, what it would mean and how he would look, Megan says in the interview.

She thus suggests that the royal family would have changed the rules regarding titles for fear of a dark-skinned child. As for expressing racism within the royal family, Prince Harry supported her when he later joined the interview.

He also expressed disappointment that no one in the royal family had condemned the racist attacks that came from the media.

Megan Markle: I didn’t want to live anymore

Another big revelation that the Duke couple gave during their interview was that Markle felt so isolated and abandoned by the royal family that she considered suicide.

– I just don’t want to live anymore. It was clear, real, frightening, and persistent thinking, says Markle.

She says she turned to a high-ranking figure within the royal family and the personnel department for help, but she refused help.

Prince Harry says he felt helpless and didn’t know who to turn to when Meghan felt bad.

The Duke praises Queen Elizabeth and says that they both have a good relationship with the Queen, but Harry admits that the relationship with his father, Crown Prince Charles, is not good anymore.

I am really disappointedPrince Harry

– There is a lot of work to deal with there. I’m really disappointed that he’s gone through something similar, he knows how to feel the pain … And Archie is his grandson. At the same time, of course, I’ll always love him, but a lot has happened that hurts me and I’ll keep trying to heal the relationship, says Harry.

Prince Harry also says that the royal family practically cut off financial support for the Duke and that they have signed agreements with Netflix and Spotify to be able to afford their security arrangements.

The Duchy couple still says they are happy with their life in California and reveal that the child they expect now is a girl.
