In response to last year’s sabotage against Nord Stream 1 and 2 and damage to Finnish-Estonian underwater pipelines, NATO exercise Neptune Strike was launched on 23 November.

This is stated in a statement issued by the Swedish Army.

The exercise, which took place on Polish soil, was conducted jointly with NATO forces from several countries. Including Great Britain, USA, Poland and Spain.

The Swedish armed forces contributed with air force and naval forces. Among others, units from the JTAC, the Joint Terminal Assault Controller, and fire chiefs from the Gustjäger-Och Amphibiankompaniet from the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment participated. Swedish paratroopers from the army also participated in the exercise.

The forces practiced ground target engagement with fighter jets alongside US and Polish forces.

“Working habits with Americans”

The exercise went well, says Coast Guard JDAC Sgt.

– From Amf1 we are used to working with Americans, but the Polish colleagues were new and a very positive experience, says the sergeant in a statement.

– The exercise went amazingly flawlessly in every way, a credit to the Army and our friends in the paratroopers who were mainly responsible for planning the exercise, continues Sgt.

The Neptune Strike began with a brief that 23 Swedish units were to work with “new aircraft capabilities”. The exercise developed into a long attack and sharpshooting in which warplanes from Great Britain, Poland and Spain took part, the Swedish Armed Forces wrote.
