Sabu’s covert operation: nighttime raids on the workplace

A preliminary investigation against the man, who is in his 40s, has already begun in the Security Police at the beginning of 2017. In 2018, the man worked for the Swedish Food Agency in Uppsala and then Sabo reported to his boss, Director General Annika Suhlström, who Her co-worker has been the subject of a criminal investigation in their place. At the same time, it was covered by the so-called yipping ban.

What did Säpo want you to do?

– They reported that the preliminary investigation will continue, but we will continue as usual. So I have been asked not to make any changes in terms of this person’s duties, says Annika Suhlström, director general of the Norwegian Food Agency.

Over the years, many interrogations and conversations with Säpo followed.

From the investigation that is now the basis for the indictment against the man, it appears that Sabu’s investigation of the man also involved several secret checks in his office.

Locks called

In summer 2018, Säpo employees will be allowed into the Swedish Food Agency at 10 p.m. They are accompanied by a locksmith.

The task is to search his desk, cabinets and drawers – to document and copy all the contents of his computer and other storage media. It was close to three in the morning when Sabu left the office.

Two days later, you came back—at the same late hour—and redid the procedure when it turned out that you had previously checked the wrong desk and cupboard.

Three months later, in October 2018, the procedure was repeated. This time too, two nightly visits are made in close succession to the Swedish Food Agency with the aim of searching the suspect’s workplace – and copying the contents onto a computer and other storage media, to carry out what is called “mirroring”.

A house was also searched at the Swedish Food Agency in the fall of 2021, after the man was arrested. A laptop computer, phone and several USB devices were then seized from a locked cupboard in the basement which was in the man’s possession.

According to the man’s defense attorney, the man denies any wrongdoing and denies any crime.

– My client denies everything that is put against him. He argues he could have done anything wrong at all, Anton Strand tells SVT.
