Ice Hockey World Cup: Finland run over Great Britain

Finland did not give Great Britain any chance when the teams met at the Ice Hockey World Cup.

On Wednesday, the Lions suffered their first defeat in their own World Cup, with Sweden winning 3-2 after penalties.

When the Lions face Great Britain on Friday, the focus will be on World Cup squad Miro Heiskenen and Isa Lindell. The NHL defenders will play in matches against Great Britain and Austria to get a smooth landing in the match – two of the team’s worst teams in advance.

Niklas Freeman gave Finland the lead in the seventh minute when his shot bounced off a British skate.

It was not long before Miro Heiskenn introduced himself to Finnish hockey fans. Heiskenn was the nation’s leading attacker and he played a major role in the Dallas Stars in the NHL. In the match against Great Britain, he showed why.

He actually spun the British slides directly in his first substitutes and played shortly afterwards to a great position where the Lion captain could not take advantage of Freeman’s leading goal forward Voltaire Filbula.

Juuso Hietanen 2-0 – by a British player – with 11.38 on the clock.

The next time Philpula gets the chance he doesn’t miss out. Michael Granland sent a puck in front of the British goal, which led Filbula to 3-0 within seven minutes of the second period.

A few minutes later, the board went 0-4 when British goalkeeper Ben Bounce came alone and Joel Armia scored.

Halfway through the third period, Comrade Menalanen led Lindell’s shot 5-0 from the blue line. Tony Rajala increased his lead to 6-0 in the powerplay when another British control found his own target.

The Finns won without the Lions acting at the top level. The team did what it needed to do to achieve clear success.

Juicy Olkinovora scored at the World Cup, but he had a very easy evening between goals.

On Saturday, Finland meets Austria. The game starts at 16.20.
