Committee: Trump illegally tried to alter the election

Former United States President Donald Trump and his associates actively sought to prevent the country’s Congress from approving the results of the 2020 presidential election. Trump also spread disinformation and attempted to force states to annul the election result.

This is what the House committee investigating the storming of the Capitolium on January 6 last year says. Investigators can report with good reason that the president tried to “deceiive the United States.”

“Evidence supports the conclusion that President Trump and his campaign partners knew that he did not obtain sufficient valid votes to declare him the winner of the 2020 presidential election,” the committee wrote in a court note.

“But the president is still trying to get the vice president to manipulate the outcome in his favour,” she added.

The information is contained in a letter filed in a district court in California due to Trump’s counsel, attorney John Eastman, filing a lawsuit and trying to prevent investigators from accessing the documents they requested.

Eastman consulted with Trump while the former president tried to overturn Joe Biden’s election victory.

Investigators claim that they should have the right to be involved in the Eastman documents because they believe this is a communication about ongoing or future crimes.
