A new social media platform launched by former US President Donald Trump “Truth Social” has appeared on the phones of some of those who pre-ordered the app. However, there was no large-scale launch on Monday, despite previous announcements.

This morning, “Truth Social” topped the list of the most downloaded apps on the Apple App Store in the US. However, some potential and curious users encountered problems or were queued while trying to download the app.

Some were met with the message: “Something went wrong. Try again.” Others received a message that they had been put on hold, due to high demand for the app.

“I think we’ll be up and running by the end of March, at least in the United States,” Devin Nunes, a former Republican congressman who resigned to become president of Trump’s Trump Media and Technology Group, told Fox News.

According to Nunes, more people should be able to download the app during the week.

Trump himself described the app as an alternative to Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, all of which banned the then-president after the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
