Mercedes-Benz has captured many of the great technological achievements in the history of automobiles. When the brand launches an electric car in the same division as the classic luxury cars, it is only natural for the model to take the lead. Not only in terms of comfort, safety and performance – but also in terms of technology.

The new EQS will not replace the S-Class but will open a new parallel track. So, there are all the features that made the S-Class the best-selling luxury car in the world, but with new dimensions in the form of an electric motor.

EQS can be charged at up to 200 kW. 15 minutes on a quick charger provides power for an additional 30 miles of driving (WLTP). Low consumption contributes to the long range and an EQS full of smart technology, among other things, the battery can be recharged at up to 290 kW with recuperation of braking energy.

Battery technology has been optimized for minimal environmental impact, among other things, the battery contains only 10 percent cobalt.

From afar, EQS appears to be something new. The body shape is created based on the brand’s classic ideals – but updated and more intuitive. In fact, the EQS is the most streamlined car in the world with a wind resistance of just 0.20 cubic metres.

A look at the cabin shows that the future is already here. The instrument panel consists of a 1.4 meter wide door-to-door display (standard on EQS 580 4MATIC, optional on EQS 450+). In practice, the entire dashboard becomes a large TV screen in the car – and the passenger has his own section at his disposal.

The interior of the EQS is a study of the highest levels of luxury and comfort, and the electric motor makes it extremely quiet. Here are all the features that have made Mercedes-Benz the number one choice for over 100 years. Of course, your EQS can demand as much personal adjustment in the form of equipment, material selection and ambiance as it is on the brand’s traditional luxury cars.

The new top model is available in two basic versions. The EQS 450+ has 333 hp and a range of 743 km. The EQS 580 4MATIC delivers 523 horsepower, all-wheel drive and a range of 660 km, as measured by the WLTP benchmark.
